Username generator
for every platform.
Give it a name, a word, or nothing at all. It builds handle ideas out of curated word lists — prefixes, suffixes, separators and character swaps — inside whatever length limit you set. Free, no sign-up, and it never leaves your browser.

These are ideas, not reservations. Nothing here has been checked against any platform — open the app you want the handle on and try it there before you build anything around it.
Four passes.
One shortlist.
Not a stored list of names. Every result is assembled the moment you type, and the same inputs always rebuild the same list.
- 01
Break down the input
Your name is lowercased and split into parts, so “Ava Rose” can come back joined, reversed, or with only the first half in play.
- 02
Combine the parts
Sixteen build patterns pull from prefix, suffix, adjective and niche-noun lists, plus four character swaps: a dropped vowel, i to y, a doubled ending, a trailing x.
- 03
Throw most of it away
Anything over your length limit goes. So does anything starting or ending on a separator, anything with two separators in a row, and any word the join accidentally spelled.
- 04
Deal the survivors
Patterns take turns so one shape cannot dominate the results. Press generate again and the seed advances — new list, same rules.
A handle has
a job to do.
Twenty-four ideas is easy. Choosing between them is the part that matters, so judge each one against these six before you fall in love with it.
- 01
Say it out loud
A handle gets read on a podcast, shouted across a room and typed from memory. If you have to spell it letter by letter, it is costing you followers you never see.
- 02
One handle, every network
Matching handles are worth more than a perfect handle on one platform. Pick the name that is free in the most places, not the one that is free in the best place.
- 03
Room to change your mind
Niche words age. A handle built around one product, one city or one hair colour becomes a lie the moment you pivot, and renaming costs you every backlink you built.
- 04
Short enough to fit
Handles get truncated in mentions, in ad previews and on merchandise. Under sixteen characters survives almost everywhere; under twelve survives everywhere.
- 05
Unambiguous characters
Lowercase l, uppercase I and the digit 1 are the same shape in most feed fonts. So are rn and m. Anyone mistyping your handle lands on someone else's account.
- 06
Nothing you would have to explain
Read the whole string with no separators, the way a domain registrar would. Two innocent words joined together have ended more brand names than bad taste ever has.
Six ways
to get it wrong.
Every one of these is common, and every one is easier to fix now than after the first thousand people have learned to type it.
Your birth year
It dates the account, narrows your audience and publishes a security answer. Use a number that means something to nobody: a repeated digit, a jersey number, a lucky pair.
Underscore soup
One separator is a style choice. Three is a handle nobody can dictate over the phone, and every leading underscore reads as the consolation prize for a taken name.
Deliberate misspelling
Swapping s for z or dropping a vowel frees the name and loses the search. People who half-remember you will type the correct spelling and find the other account.
Someone else's trademark
A brand name inside your handle is a takedown waiting to happen, and platforms hand the name over on request. Build on a word you can defend.
The word official
It signals the opposite. Official accounts are the ones that got the plain name first; the prefix advertises that you did not, and no verification badge follows it.
A handle you cannot buy the domain for
Check the .com or .co before you commit anywhere. A handle that cannot become a website is a handle you will regret at the exact moment it starts working.
Every platform
has a different door.
A handle only counts as portable if it fits the strictest network you care about. X is usually the one that decides your length; the underscore-only networks decide your separator.
| Platform | Characters | Allowed |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 30 | a–z 0–9 . _ | |
| TikTok | Up to 24 | a–z 0–9 . _ |
| X | Up to 15 | a–z 0–9 _ |
| YouTube | 3 to 30 | a–z 0–9 . _ - |
| Twitch | 4 to 25 | a–z 0–9 _ |
| 3 to 20 | a–z 0–9 _ - |
Platforms revise these — confirm on the sign-up screen
The practical advice falls straight out of the table. Stay at fifteen characters or fewer and every mainstream network will take your handle. Use an underscore rather than a period if you want the widest reach, because the underscore is accepted everywhere and the period is not. Periods still earn their place on one network in particular, which is why the Instagram username generator is a separate tool with its own rules built in.
Name the character,
not the content.
An AI influencer starts from a blank sheet, which sounds like freedom and is actually the hard part. There is no surname to fall back on, so the handle has to carry the character on its own — and it has to keep working after the niche shifts, because it will.
Do it in the same sitting as the face. Buy a trained model in the Marketplace or upload a character you already have and train it — the AI influencer generator explains how — name her below, then claim the shortlist everywhere before the first post exists. The rest of the workspace — photos, video, templates, product placement — is on the creation tools page.
Name the persona
European magazine energy: an unexpected first name against a surname with a masthead ring to it. Reads like a byline.

Every name here is invented. Search the name and the handle on Instagram, TikTok and the trademark register before you commit to one.
Before you
claim it.
Does the username generator check whether a handle is available?
No, and no generator that runs in your browser can. Nothing on this page contacts Instagram, TikTok, X or anyone else, so treat every result as an idea rather than a reservation. Copy the ones you like, then type them into the platform's own sign-up or settings screen — that is the only check that counts.
How do I get the same username on every platform?
Shortlist first, claim second. Pick five candidates from the tool, then open every network you might ever use — including the ones you have no plans for today — and try all five in each. Take the one that survives everywhere, even if it is your third favourite. A matching set is worth more than a perfect handle on one app.
Should my username include numbers?
Only if the number means something and never if it is your birth year. A year dates the account, narrows who thinks the content is for them, and publishes an answer to a security question. Turn the numbers option off entirely if you can afford to — a handle without digits is easier to say out loud.
What if every good username is taken?
Change the shape, not the spelling. Add a category word — studio, daily, notes, club — or move the name to the second half of the handle. Misspelling your own name to free it up loses the searches you would have won, because people type the spelling they know.
Can I change my username later?
Most platforms let you, and most people underestimate what it costs. Old links, tagged posts, printed material and every mention someone typed by hand break or point somewhere else. Choose as though you cannot change it, and you probably will not need to.
Do the same rules apply to an AI influencer?
The naming rules do — say it out loud, keep it short, keep it free everywhere. What changes is the order of work: an AI influencer's face, niche and name are decided together, so pick the handle at the same time you choose or upload the face rather than after the first post.
